Moringa, a highly valued and versatile plant endemic to India, Africa and Asia, and that has now extended beyond their borders, is a multipurpose, fast growing, deciduous tree that has proclaimed the nicknames “the miracle tree” and “The Tree of Life”. When intensely cultivated moringa can resemble a bush, but under normal circumstances, moringa is one very miraculous, beautiful tree.

 Moringa is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas all over Asia, Africa and South America. It can stand both severe drought and mild frost weather conditions. Moringa Oleifera has been the subject of praise all through out the world due to it’s prolific nutritional density. This Ayurvedic herb has been shown to assist in a wide range of medicinal complications with it’s high nutritional value. Different parts of the tree are utilized by different methods and manners to effectively activate it’s bioactive components properly. Although the leaves are considered the most nutritious part of the tree, every feature, from the roots to the seeds can be used for medicinal purposes. Preclinical studies suggest that various curative properties may be attributed to Moringa leaf, seed and root extracts such as, anticancer, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antisickling effects. The Moringa plant contains a rich combination of highly nutritious compounds, containing over 90 nutrients, 36 anti-inflammatory compounds and 46 antioxidants. Vitamin K, A, C, B6, Manganese, Magnesium, Riboflavin, Calcium, Thiamine, Potassium, Iron and Niacin are only a small portion of Moringas nutritional denseness. This Ayurvedic plant also contains all 8 essential amino acids, making it one of the few plants around that provide you with a complete source of protein. It’s rich in flavonoids including Beta- Sitosterol, Zeatin, Quercetin and Caffeoylquinic acid.

It’s chemical composition contains four times more fiber than oats, two times more vitamin A than carrots, fourteen times more calcium than milk, four times more potassium than bananas, seven times more vitamin C than oranges as well as nine times more iron than spinach.

Moringa Oleifera has been the subject of countless studies, proving it’s miracle like effects on and in the body, and proving once again that nature really does provide us with the kinds of foods that create our resiliency. The NIH or National Institute of Health, which is the primary agency in the United States responsible for biomedical and health research, has even created a website dedicated to the research that has been done thus far and that is possibly still being conducted on the Moringa Oleifera plant. In 2008 the NIH even awarded Moringa Oleifera the Botanical of the Year Award for the amazing properties that it carried and that were being discovered.
